Southern African Legal Assistance Network (SALAN) www.salan.org

The LRF is a member of the Southern African Legal Assistance Network (known as SALAN) which was established to encourage dialogue and the sharing of information on human rights in Southern African countries. The geographical region covered by SALAN includes Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Zanzibar and Zimbabwe.

Supported by bi-annual meetings and joint projects, members of the Network individually and collectively work to promote the development of a culture of human rights in the region.

MANDATE

  • to collect and disseminate relevant information and offer support to members;
  • to provide capacity-building training opportunities to members according to their specific needs;
  • to address public interest issues through legal means to promote human rights;
  • to develop, promote and strengthen democracy in the region through regional projects to improve access to justice for all.
